Schedule of events for Saturday, June 18th

SATURDAY FUN RUN

On Saturday you will have the opportunity to venture out on your own to places we have selected for you. For many of the places you go, you will collect one fun run ticket. You will put your name on the ticket and save it, turning them all in when we get to Natural Bridge on Monday. The more places you visit; the more chances you will have to win a prize. You can easily do all of the stops without pushing it, and can fit in a battlefield tour if you want to fill your day. We have a schedule and route for you, but feel free to mix and match to fit your schedule.

Here are the stops and some general information about each:

Soldiers National Cemetery is open from Sunrise to Sunset. This is where Abraham Lincoln gave his Gettysburg Address. Allow 1 hour here. (Fun run stop, entry will be in your envelope. We trust you will use this only if you visit)

Sach’s Covered Bridge built in 1854. Crossed by Union and Confederate Soldiers. Several people were hung here and it is thought to be haunted. Allow 15 minutes for photo ops. Not a fun run stop.

Jack’s Mountain Bridge built in 1890 it is 75’ long. You will drive across this if you take our route. Not a fun run stop.

Mr. Ed’s Elephant Museum and Candy Emporium. Elephant collection fudge, and old time candy. Allow 45 minutes. Open 10-6. Ask for your History in the Hills Fun Run Ticket.

Jennie Wade House is the place the only civilian killed in the Civil War lived. Guides in period clothing will retell the tragedy. Allow 30 minutes. When you get back to town, stop and sign up for a tour time (or take in a tour before you leave town). Open 9-7. Turn in your ticket for admission and get a fun run entry.

Shriver House shows the civilian side of the battle. It was also used as a hospital. Allow 1 hour. When you get back to town, stop and sign up for a tour time (or take in a tour before you leave town). Open 8-6. Turn in your coupon for admission and get a fun run entry.

Ronn Palm Museum of Civil War Images. Over 4000 images and artifacts on display. Allow 30 minutes. Ask for your fun run ticket. Open 10-9.

Gettysburg Lincoln Railroad Station served as a field hospital and was where Abraham Lincoln arrived on November 11, 1863 to give the Gettysburg Address. There are changing exhibits on display. It is open from 10-5. Plan on spending about 30 minutes. At this stop we ask that you pick up one fun run ticket using the honor system. A display will direct you to the tickets.
